Sorrel Drink Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups dried sorrel calyces
1 large piece fresh ginger, sliced
10 cups water
4 to 6 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Sugar or sweetener to taste

 

Optional: orange peel, lime slices, or rum

Jamaican Sorrel Drink aka The Christmas Drink or just plain "Sorrel" is a  spiced, and tangy festive drink made by steeping dried hibiscus CAYLYX (sorrel roselle) with fresh ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and orange peel.

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

Boil ingredients for 10 minutes, then steep for 4 hours to overnight.
Strain, sweeten with sugar to taste.  OR
don't sweeten, it will be just as refreshingly great.  Then refrigerate to serve chill.

It's not Christmas or Easter until you add some rum, vodka or whiskey!!!
